Forests -- the most precious treasure of our country. They give life; they are home for majority of our plants and animals; they protect us against various dangers; provide many necessary products. Today -- it is already 29 percent of the area of Poland.

Over three fourths of forests in Poland is in charge of the State Forests acting on behalf of the Polish State Treasury. We are the greatest organization managing public forests in the European Union.
The State Forests were established almost 90 years ago -- in year 1924.

The basic task of the State Forests is maintenance of stability of Polish forests and expansion of their resources.

Each year we are planting about 500 million of new trees, thus renewing and afforesting area of over 50 thousand hectares. We protect nature and forests but we do not limit access to them. We promote healthy, active leisure in the bosom of nature, but we also teach.

Resources of wood in state forests amount to almost 2 billions of cubic metres and belong to the highest in Europe. They satisfy increasing demand for wood and simultaneously resources of this raw material still grow. This is how we, employees of the State Forests, understand balanced, multi-functional forest economy.
