Unfortunately, the number of dead tree stands is rapidly increasing. PEREGRINE FALCONS HAVE BEEN RINGED The peregrine falcon chicks from Krynki Forest District (RDSF in Białystok) have been ringed. Young birds come from another successful hatch within the framework of Polish national programme regarding resuscitation of this Accipitriformes species. OSPREYS HAVE NESTED IN MIĘDZYCHÓD FOREST DISTRICT Already this year, six pairs of ospreys have nested in the area of RDSF in Szczecin and Zielona Góra. These are the effects of a project conducted by foresters and Regional Directorate of Environmental Protection (RDOŚ) in Gorzów Wielkopolski. THE COOPERATIVE BLACK GROUSE COUNT Drygały Forest District (RDSF in Białystkok) has already counted the black grouses. Birds were observed within Natura 2000 SPA “Ostoja Poligon Orzysz”. Spruce bark beetles still pose a threat to the Forest [VIDEO] Within only three days the amount of entrapped bark beetles in the Białowieża Forest District exceeded 164 litres. This means another difficult year for spruces in the Białowieża Forest. Saving the rose daphne There is still hope that rose daphne survives in Poland. The research was conducted by the Bureau for Forest Management and Geodesy (BULiGL) under the supervision of the employees working for forest districts and RDSF in Białystok. The State Forests will subsidize National Parks The State Forests will once again support financially National Parks. This year, the SF will allocate for this purpose over PLN 70 million. The interest in subsidy is high since and the total amount of money being requested is almost twice as big as the allocation, which indicates how these funds are needed. Oak Józef wins the european contest Oak Józef, Polish candidate for the European Tree of the Year, came first in the contest. The aged Józef had to compete with 16 other trees from all over Europe.
