We present another publication devoted to English forestry terminology. It is a collection of language exercises referring to all publications by Elżbieta Kloc released to date. The structure of the book guides users in an accessible and clear way to the lexical resources provided in the other textbooks. The author has also ensured variety in both form and content, drawing on modern methods of teaching foreign languages at academic level.
This English-language publication presents a selection of 50 out of 130 articles on the Białowieża Forest published in Sylwan throughout its history, from 1820 to 2018. In the introduction, the scientific editor of the publication, Professor Andrzej Grzywacz, who selected the articles, expresses the hope that by presenting the historical context of the Białowieża Forest, this edition will contribute to a better understanding of the complexity of issues related to this valuable area.
Forests are a common good that we can use in many different ways. They are a source of clean air, but also of wood. They provide opportunities for recreation, but also jobs. They are accessible to everyone. In short, proximity to forests brings many benefits, especially as they are used and managed by foresters in a way that also enables their protection.
