Several hundred buildings managed by the State Forests will have their thermal efficiency modernised. It means that buildings will be better insulated and more economical. Moreover, the use of energy from renewable sources will increase.

The installation of devices using RES (renewable energy sources) is an important part of the SF’s development project concerning modernization of buildings. Thanks to these devices the contribution of clean energy will increase.

The project is directed at all organizational units of the State Forests and will be implemented until mid-2022. For this purpose the State Forests intend to commit over PLN 116 million only from their own resources. The Centre for Environmental Projects in Warsaw is responsible for the implementation of this project.

The project will concern not only office or technical buildings but also premises of general interest, eg. forest education centres. Within the current year, the Forest Gene Bank Kostrzyca will carry out thermal efficiency improvement.

The energy demand in modernized buildings will be reduced, the maintenance costs will decrease and their standard will also improve. In addition, apart from thermal modernisation part of premises will be equipped with systems based on renewable energy sources, eg. solar collectors and photovoltaic panels, heat pumps or biomass boilers.
