RDSF IN WARSAW WAS GRANTED A PEFC
The foresters from RDSF in Warsaw are good forest managers and keep appropriate records of their activities which has been recently confirmed by an audit.
Three-day audit procedure (10-13 January) was carried out by the Bureau Veritas Polska Sp. z o. o. During the visitation of Drewnica, Jabłonna and Wyszków forest districts, the auditor paid attention to many aspects of forest management practice as well as its compliance with the requirements of PEFC standards.
The audit resulted in full recognition of Warsaw RDSF activities by PEFC. The relevant certificate is valid for the next three years, until 18th January 2020.
It was registered under the number BVCPL/PEFCFM/03 and concerns the activities of all forest districts within the area of Warsaw Regional Directorate
Regional Directorate of the State Forests in Warsaw administrates forests located within the area of Mazowieckie province and a small fragment of forests located in the Lubelskie. Warsaw RDSF comprises 14 forest districts and its total forest area is 182 thousand ha. The main forest-forming species is pine (70%).
Fragmentation and diverse sizes of forest complexes are the main characteristic features. Larger forests are located in northern and eastern part of the directorate, within the area of Pułtusk, Wyszków, Ostrów Mazowiecka and Łuków forest districts. These are the areas of the Kurpiowska Forest, the Biała Forest and the Łukowskie Forests.
