European Forest Week will take place in Warsaw

A joint session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Committee on Forests and the Forestry Industry and the FAO European Forestry Commission will be held in Warsaw on 9‑13 October 2017. The session will be accompanied by European Forest Week celebrations. The most important event of the Session will be a meeting of ministers responsible for the forests of the pan-European region.

European Forest Week has been celebrated since 2008 and is an event accompanying the Session. European Forest Week provides an opportunity for discussion on forestry and the forestry industry, and is a unique forum for promoting these topics.

The fourth European Forest Week will be celebrated throught Europe, under the theme of "Forests, our common good".

It will be held in conjunction with Las2017 (‘las’ means ‘forest’ in Polish). European Forest Week will take place in Warsaw, where Las2017 will be hosted by the Government of Poland.

The first European Forest Week was celebrated in 2008 and ever since has provided a unique opportunity for participants to increase the forest sector’s visibility and to influence pan-European and global discussions related to forests. Interested stakeholders are encouraged to contribute and organize national and local celebrations.
