POLISH FORESTS
Poland ranks among the leading European countries in terms of forest area. Currently, forests cover nearly 9.3 million hectares, representing 29.6% of the country’s total area. The vast majority are publicly owned, with more than 7.1 million hectares managed by the State Forests National Forest Holding.
“Forests Through Foresters’ Lenses” is a photography competition that showcases the beauty, diversity and daily rhythm of Polish forests. The photographs are taken by State Forests foresters, whose work gives them a unique opportunity to observe nature up close and capture its fleeting moments. The competition encourages a deeper appreciation of nature and presents the forest as a place full of life, constant change and remarkable stories.
When fire appears in a forest, most people first think of the fire service. But the fight against the elements begins much earlier, even before the first firefighter unrolls a hose line.
Foresters, together with other emergency and public services, are reminding people how to enjoy the outdoors safely. Proper preparation and awareness of a few basic rules can help prevent dangerous situations during summer trips.
