Two wolves strolling through the forest – this short recording depicted by a mobile camera is another proof of a good condition of forests in the Warmia-Masuria province.

Few days ago a mobile camera used by the Forest Guard recorded two wolves strolling through the forest within the area of the Szczytno Forest District. This proves that these forests are abundant in deer, which is a basic wolf feed.

The wolf wouldn’t exist here, if he didn’t have sufficient prey base. Within 24 hours this predator eats up to 5 kg of feed.

Since 2000 all forest districts of the Regional Directorate of the State Forests in Olsztyn have put wolf and lynx count under constant surveillance. The observation results show that 10 years ago about 50 wolves lived in forests of RDSF in Olsztyn. Today, the species population amounts up to 140 individuals.
